Truly, the most majestic spectacle on this earth must be the setting African sun. The landscape, the atmosphere, and even the people only enhance its beauty.
Though no one knows her exact age, it is believed that the chief's mother is over 100 years old. Despite her age, she continues to labor diligently in her field, greeting all who pass by with a warm smile and proud demeanor. I captured this after glancing back one last time in admiration.
In the village of Gbentchal, Togo, the children are eager to make friends with anyone holding a camera so they can see themselves on the back of the screen. The boy pictured was so excited to get his picture taken that he ran and grabbed his friends to join him in a group photo.
This piece reflects the beauty and romance found in a softer and peaceful side of nighttime New Orleans. While editing the photo, I found the scene to be reminiscent of the movie poster from the musical La La Land. I was especially drawn to the passion and intensity between the couple on the boardwalk, who held each other’s gaze for the duration of the long exposure.
A special treat for the villagers is "movie night," where a large projector broadcasts music videos and short films for the enjoyment of everyone. I took the opportunity of capturing a silhouette portrait of this young man who did not seem as interested in the film as everyone else.
